Student Accessibility & Disability Accommodations

WUSOM is committed to an inclusive, accessible environment, so all members of our community can fully access facilities, information/technology, coursework, programs, and WUSOM-sponsored activities.

Accommodations are considered case-by-case and provided in a timely, individualized, and flexible manner, when supported by documentation and when they do not create undue hardship or fundamentally alter a program or service.

Requesting accommodations

1) Start your request

Submit a Request for Accommodation Form by contacting the Dean of Student Affairs: studentaffairs@windsor.edu

2) Receive next-step instructions

You’ll typically receive an email confirmation within 2 business days, with instructions for uploading documentation electronically.

3) Submit documentation

Documentation must describe functional limitations, indicate the disability substantially limits an academic activity, and be provided by qualified licensed professionals.

Please submit documents at least 30 days before matriculation or starting a new course/experience (including clinical rotations, clerkships, supervised clinical practice, proctorships, and similar activities).

3) Submit documentation

Once your request is complete, WUSOM will review it within 14 calendar days.

After a decision

If approved

You’ll receive an email describing your approved accommodation(s), duration, and any requirements.

Appropriate faculty/academic offices will be notified, and you’ll confirm implementation with your course director/instructor.

Please note

  • No retroactive accommodations (they won’t change prior grades or past academic actions).
  • Accommodations cannot substantially alter the curriculum, other students’ rights, or patient/client care in clinical settings.

Accommodations are generally approved for up to one academic year and must be renewed annually (renewals are not automatic).

Confidentiality

Disability and accommodations documentation is maintained as confidential.
