What You Need to Apply for — and When to Start
UAE applicants are exempt from MCAT submission as part of the standard application.
Minimum 90 undergraduate credit hours, or a recognized international equivalent.
Academic and/or professional references supporting your candidacy.
A chance to demonstrate your motivation, background, and commitment to medicine.
Clinical experience, research, volunteering, and leadership all strengthen your application.
We accept applications for our MD and Biomedical Sciences program for classes starting during any of our trimester academic terms
Funding an MD outside the UAE comes with real questions—tuition planning in AED versus USD, the cost of relocating for basic sciences in St. Kitts, and budgeting for clinical rotations in the United States. WUSOM works to make that path easier to plan for.
Merit-based scholarships are available to help offset tuition costs for qualified applicants from the UAE.

Yes. WUSOM is accredited by the Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and Other Health Professions (CAAM-HP), a WFME-recognized accrediting body, and is recognized by the St. Christopher and Nevis Accreditation Board.
Yes. Eligible graduates can pursue ECFMG certification and apply for U.S. residency programs after meeting the applicable eligibility and licensing requirements.
Medical qualifications earned outside the UAE are evaluated by the relevant licensing authorities—including MOHAP, DHA, and DOH Abu Dhabi—according to their current regulations. Because licensing requirements may change, we recommend confirming the latest eligibility criteria directly with the appropriate authority before applying.
Yes. WUSOM graduates have pursued licensure, postgraduate training, and medical careers in countries including Canada, the United Kingdom, the UAE, and across the Middle East, subject to each country’s licensing requirements.
Students complete their basic sciences at WUSOM’s St. Kitts campus before gaining hands-on clinical experience through affiliated hospitals and healthcare facilities across the United States.
No. The MCAT is not required as part of the standard admission requirements for eligible UAE applicants.
Applicants typically submit academic transcripts, letters of recommendation, a personal statement, and details of relevant clinical, research, volunteer, leadership, or work experience. International qualifications are evaluated individually by the admissions team.
Not necessarily. WUSOM primarily evaluates applicants based on completed undergraduate coursework, prerequisite science subjects, and overall academic preparation.
